Support the passing of laws enabling Direct Democracy
This proposal invites citizens to vote on whether New Zealand should move toward a direct democracy model — a system where people vote directly on laws, policies, and national decisions rather than delegating authority to elected representatives.
In this system:
Citizens will have the right to propose laws (initiatives) and vote on laws proposed by the government (referendums).
No intermediaries (like Members of Parliament) are needed for final decision-making.
Digital voting platforms and local/national assemblies could be used to facilitate broad participation.
A simple majority would determine the outcome of each vote.
Tools like recall elections would allow citizens to remove officials or repeal laws directly.
